PBIS Workshop

The Psychology Department, presents talks entitled “Understanding the GBS Approach to Positive Behavior Intervention Supports and Promoting Positive Behavior at Home.” The talk focuses on the GBS philosophy of managing challenging behaviors in school with an emphasis on the idea that “all children do well if they can.” The presenters describe the specific lagging skills our students exhibit that interfere with their ability to successfully regulate their behavior when they become distressed and problem solve effectively with adults and peers. The talk outlines the Collaborative Problem Solving model that is used at all developmental levels with our students and how many of the same strategies and techniques utilized in the school setting can be generalized to the home environment.
