Ways to Give
The Annual Fund helps to ensure our school's future and covers the cost of educating each student. We strive for 100% participation, and ask our donors to prioritize the Annual Fund in making their gift.
Gifts of cash
Personal checks and credit card payments are two of the most popular ways to make a gift to Gillen Brewer. Checks should be made payable to Gillen Brewer School and mailed to: Gillen Brewer School 410 East 92nd Street New York, New York 10128. Credit card gifts can be made online, or by calling the Development Office at (212) 831-3667 x216.
Many companies match their employees’ charitable contributions. For example, if you donate $1,000 to Gillen Brewer School, your employer may be willing to match your generosity – and you’ll be credited with a $2,000 gift. Some companies will double and even triple contributions made by employees and their spouses to nonprofit organizations. You can obtain information and the necessary forms from your employer and forward these to Gillen Brewer with your gift.
Gifts of securities
Gifts of appreciated stock provide an opportunity to benefit the school with significant tax advantages for you. Since the cost of the stock is lower than the actual gift amount, you can avoid paying a capital gains tax on the stock’s increase in value. You can also claim an income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock at the time of contribution. For instructions on transferring securities, contact the development office.
Bequests and Deferred Gifts
As GBS builds for a strong future, we understand the importance of bequests, gifts of life insurance, and deferred gifts in fostering the school’s long-term health and vitality. We also understand the importance of working with our generous donors to help them achieve their charitable goals. Through planned giving, donors can give more than would otherwise be possible and enjoy additional tax benefits and, in some cases, income for life. Please contact the development office for more information.
Each teacher keeps a wish list of items he or she wants for their classroom. If you wish to buy a gift for your child’s class or for the Art, Music, and/or Science department, this is a great way to celebrate a birthday or holiday and send something the students need.
Purchases from the wish lists are deeply appreciated, and are credited to the donor as a gift-in-kind. These purchases do not count towards participation in the Annual Fund.
