Head of School Announcement

Dear GBS Community,

It is with great excitement that the Board of Trustees, on the recommendation of the Head of School Search Committee, has selected Rebecca Skinner as our next, permanent Head of School, effective July 1, 2022.

Since Rebecca began her role as Interim Head of School last summer, she has positively contributed to every aspect of Gillen Brewer. During her time at GBS, Rebecca has thoughtfully guided and supported faculty and staff through growth and transition, and offered inspiring insight regarding the future of our school, all while building meaningful relationships with students. It was clear to the Search Committee, through both the formal interview process and her time as Interim Head of School, that Rebecca would be the perfect fit to lead our community.

Her dedication to our mission to uncover the specialness in every child is unwavering. With over twenty years of experience building and leading independent schools in the U.S. and internationally, we have full confidence that under Rebecca’s guidance, GBS will continue to thrive as we support our students in becoming confident and independent learners.

The Board wishes to thank the Head of School Search Committee, with special thanks to HOS Committee Chair, Brigid Hutchinson. Brigid and the entire Committee invested a great deal of time and energy into ensuring that our community found the right person to steer Gillen Brewer forward. We thank you all for your commitment and enthusiasm throughout the process.
